On 2 November 2020, the Australian Government released details of the JobMaker Hiring Credit Program, a new incentive for businesses to employ young job seekers aged 16 to 35 years.
To be eligible for the incentive, employers will need to:
- Register with the scheme (from 6 December 2020). Find out how here.
- Hire eligible new employees between 7 October 2020 and 6 October 2021.
- Roster eligible employees on for at lease 20 hours per week in each week.
You can claim payments for up to 12 months from their employment start date. You cannot claim Jobkeeper and the JobMaker Hiring Credit at the same time.
