About Raul…
A partner at Rosenfeld Kant since 1996, Raul Valois enjoys a professional relationship with the firm that exceeds 30 years. He is known for his expertise and acuity, as well as for the energy he brings to intricate tax, accounting, assurance and business advisory matters.

Raul has specialised skills in predictive modelling, business optimisation, structuring and governance.

He also maintains a keen interest in technological innovations and how they may enhance Rosenfeld Kant’s service offerings and, most importantly, outcomes for his clients.

Raul advises a diverse client portfolio – family-owned and closely-held SMEs as well as high-wealth individuals who manage sophisticated operations or hold extensive property and investment asset portfolios. While predominantly located in the Sydney area, Raul’s clients also include businesses with interstate divisions. Representative of a broad range of industry sectors, they include specialised retail, wholesale, IT and real estate concerns.

Raul is committed to a client-first approach that not only ensures effective tax and reporting outcomes, but also proactively explores ways to improve profitability and tax efficiency.

In delivering business advisory tax planning services (and this is where Raul’s forte in predictive modelling adds next-level insights) he assists his clients to achieve significant efficiencies and growth that together enhance the overall business value.

Predictive modelling is a specialised skill that, coupled with Raul’s extensive business experience, enables him to uncover key relationships in the numbers to develop a logical and future-focused understanding of them and to recommend actions for improved business performance and tax outcomes.

Raul gains great satisfaction when assisting subsidiaries of foreign companies. These complex assignments are often introduced to him via Rosenfeld Kant’s collaboration with Geneva Group International (GGI), a prestigious international accounting organisation.

Raul understands the complexity and multi-faceted nature of tax and accounting for a foreign company domiciled in another country and wishing to enter the Australian marketplace.

His expertise includes strong knowledge of Australian tax and accounting law and international differences, along with a clear understanding of the processes involved in setting up a subsidiary in Australia’s unfamiliar tax jurisdiction. His advice includes clarifying tax reporting obligations; ASIC stipulations; compliance with relevant auditing regulations; and the requirement for the board to include an Australian director. Given the range of cross-border matters that need to be addressed, owners of foreign companies who engage Raul are extremely appreciative of his highly competent, systematic and proven approach.

Raul offers significant depth and breadth of knowledge combined with understanding and appreciation of his clients’ business contexts, all necessary when forming a wide perspective of needs and solutions. This enables him to develop detailed and nuanced negotiating positions, such as during the sale of a business, that shore up outcomes that are in his clients’ best interests.

Within Rosenfeld Kant, Raul is committed to supporting the firm’s strong, stable and well-qualified team of professionals; he is justifiably proud of the firm’s collective technical knowledge and expertise in tax, accounting and business advisory services for SMEs and their genuine approach to client care.

Raul genuinely enjoys helping people and hopes to be remembered warmly by his clients for his contribution to helping them achieve business and personal success.

Personally …
Raul was born in Madrid, Spain. The family immigrated to Australia when he was just 22 months old and he spent his early years in Myrtleford, Victoria, where his father grew tobacco. After nine years of farming, the family moved to Sydney where Raul completed his schooling, attended university and pursued his professional career. Sydney is also where he met his wife and where they have raised two now-adult sons and a daughter. It also offers the welcome opportunity for Raul to  indulge his passion for kayak fishing on its range of water ways, from open bays to quiet inlets.

Growing up, Raul acknowledges the positive influence of his older brother, while professionally he is grateful for the mentorship offered by Alf Kant, a founder of Rosenfeld Kant. Raul also appreciates the close relationships he has formed with clients of over 30 years, people whom he greatly admires. Inquisitive by nature, Raul is quite the adventurer. Keen travellers, he and his wife have visited many far-flung places, with South America and The Galapagos on their bucket list. Widely diverse, these destinations all provide the chance for Raul to practice another keen interest, photography.
